Abstract
This thesis deals with the implementation and testing of an electronic system for opening the side doors of a car by means of an extendable handle integrated into the vehicle door. The thesis starts with a historical overview of the development of door handles and gradually moves on to current innovative solutions in this field. The main objective of the thesis is to design and test a prototype electronic system in laboratory conditions and then implement this system in a prototype vehicle. The system uses an Arduino microcontroller to control the motor that drives the crank, and communicates via CAN bus with the other components of the vehicle. Functional testing of the system includes both hardware and software components, and focuses on reliability, safety and user experience. The results of the work show that the proposed system has potential for further development, with key aspects being integrity with the vehicle and intuitive operation.
