Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the performance of tests to determine the mechanical properties of a self bearing battery pack of an electric car. The battery pack is made of aluminum alloys using hybrid joints – a joint made by combining glue with rivets.
In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis are listed some of the legislative requirements for testing battery packs. The constructional solutions of both examined battery packs are also described here, including the materials and technologies used for their production.
The experimental part deals with the performance of tensile tests for bonded samples with surface prepared by using a laser cleaner. However, the main attention is concentrated to the mechanical tests of a part of the battery pack, which were performed in a dynamic test room and divided into two groups. The first group were static tests performed by placing weights on the central part of the battery pack. In the second group of test, the battery pack was torsional loaded by using hydraulic cylinder.
