Abstract

Bachelor thesis presents a comparison of the design characteristics of light controlled intersections in the Czech Republic and USA and assessing the impact of different regulations in both countries for capacity and traffic flow. After the self-intersection selection Novinářská x Hornopolní x Novoveská completion of the necessary traffic engineering calculations and capacity assessments of the intersection by Czech law. Consequently, adjustments of the intersection were made according to American standards and capacity assessment in accordance with Czech legislation with the necessary adjustments. The reason for using Czech regulations for calculation of the capacity assessment of the U.S. variant of the intersection was necessary comparability of the results and the elimination of various computational procedures used by Czech and American legislation.
