Analýza a využití technologie RedCap v kampusové 5G síti

Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) technology and its poten- tial application within the VŠB-TUO campus 5G network. The main objective of the work is to design the extension of the existing campus network to support RedCap devices and to describe the characteristics of this technology compared to similar solutions. The work includes an analysis of the 5G SA (Standalone) architecture and a proposal of the necessary modifications for RedCap integration, including adjustments to network functions and optimization of signaling procedures. Furthermore, a network coverage simulation using the RadioMobile tool was conducted, and the re- sults were compared with the existing LoRaWAN coverage within the campus. A detailed analysis of L3 signaling in standard 5G SA networks and its comparison with RedCap-specific signaling is also included. Additionally, the work covers the measurement of power consumption of 5G and 5G RedCap modules under various operating modes, followed by a comparison and evaluation.
