Abstract

This bachelor's thesis deals with the preparation and testing of activated carbon, made from Reynoutria japonica using chemical activation using NaOH and H3PO4 as activating agents. The work consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes the issues of water pollution, adsorption on solids and activated carbon, including a description of models of adsorption kinetics and adsorption equilibrium. The practical part is focused on the preparation of sorbents, their morphological characterization using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), characterization of the functional groups present on the surface of the prepared activated carbon by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and to determine the ability to sorb ofloxacin.
