Abstract

Currently we can find many materials throughout the civil engineering which more or less act as environmentally unfriendly elements. As a substitute, materials based on alkali activation can be applied. During the process of activation, secondary products of metallurgical and power industries are used. These materials are on the boundary between hydraulic and inorganic cements, glass and ceramic materials. In comparison with currently used cements, these materials reach better strength and resistance properties. The expansion to the wider market is hampered by the instability of final properties of the materials and usage of aggressive chemical substances. Fiber concrete is a specific kind of concrete which is enriched by suitable type of fibers during its manufacturing process. Due to this fact, better physical and mechanical properties are achieved according to the requirements. To achieve the best quality of the concrete it is necessary to choose the most suitable type of fibers and determine their exact dosage. The aim of the work was to verify the influence of fiber type on basic mechanical and physical properties of prepared mixtures and their comparison with the reference mixture. Flexural strength a compressive strength were determined, bulk density, deflections and dynamic module of elasticity were defined.
