Abstract

This thesis is dedicated to a concept of reconstruction of street lighting of a public road to ME5 standard. First chapter is an assessment of energy consumption of street lighting and its share on total electricity consumption of the Czech Republic. This chapter includes results of a recent study focused on electricity consumption. Following chapters are aimed on selection of the most suitable light fitting for the concept using different evaluative criteria and selected methods of a multi-level analysis. Different proposals are presented in the appendix. Concepts are compared against each other in terms of capital expenditures and operating costs, saving are determining. Next part aims on possible savings in street lighting sector and measures to reduce electricity consumption and operational costs reduction. Last chapter assesses the environmental aspects of street lighting and its impact in the vicinity, mainly deals with interfering light.
