Abstract
The aim of this study was evaluation of biosorption properties of biomass originating from kridlatka japonska (Reynoutria japonica) for removal of Cr(III) from model solutions. The introductory part provides a summary of established procedures for the removal of heavy metals from waste water and also alternative decontamination by biosorption. Then, a description of experimental methods for evaluation of biosorption of Cr(III) from model solution is described and achieved results are discussed. The biosorbent samples were stalk and leafs of kridlatka japonska (Reynoutria japonica) mixed in two different ratios. However, it turned out that biosorption efficiency of Cr(III) was not affected by the stalk to leafs ratio. Further, the biosorption process was evaluated for biomass concentration of 1 g.l-1 a 10 g.l-1. Decontamination was found more effective at the 10 g.l-1 level of the biomass.
