Důl Zárubek v Ostravě, konverze

Abstract

The thesis deals with the urban and architectural design of the post-industrial area of the former coal-mine Zárubek. - the area situated on the border of Moravian and Silesian Ostrava with huge development potential. The aim of the thesis is the revitalization of the area on the confluence of the Ostravice and Lučina rivers by creating new urban initiatory generators, which will make the area available and ensures the influx of inhabitants of the city and its environs. The design also focuses on the integration of the area into the organism of Ostrava City including potential use of the existing remnants of historic industrial objects. The main issue is opening the town to the river, linking the banks and the “transference „ of the activities from neighbouring functioning parts of the city across the River into the territory which is being solved. The strongest generator of the area will be a shopping centre, which will ensure the economic sustainability of the area and help its further development. In addition to the commerce, tourism and recreation, cultural and artistic activities will develop there as a follow-up to the pre-thesis project . These activities wil become the focus of the entire design. The result will be a lively, vibrant centre of contemporary art – Zárubek Art Park.
