Abstract
The CSR test (coke strength after reaction with CO2) is used in aim to define the quality of coke produced in coke oven batteries. The test gives the percentage weight loss after reaction with carbon dioxide gas and is an important indicator of the behavior of coke consumption in blast furnaces shaft. CSR parameter determination is very time consuming, and results are often available no sooner than the coal is blended and charged into the coke oven. To simplify the process of determining the CSR value, a prediction equation working with the chemical composition of the coal charge is used in aim to estimate CSR almost immediately after the sampling of coal. The accuracy and reliability of predicted data were compared with values measured from coke produced in a pilot coke oven.
