Abstract
Human resources management and development becomes a political issue and a fashion trend. Companies are beginning to realize that their development and competitiveness depends on the quality of human resources and ability to exploit their potential. Exploring and describing individual actions of personnel managers in a midsize company CANIS SAFETY a.s. leads to the conclusion that development from administrative activities to the human resources management in company is in progress. Individual personal activities not based on clearly defined HR strategy. Some processes, such as job analysis, recruitment, selection and recruitment, compensation, employee care and education are performed relatively well and meet the requirements of modern HRM. On the other hand, it is necessary to determine personnel strategy, staff planning, the process of adaptation, performance management and evaluation, distributing of employees and employment termination, good employment relations, establish personnel information systém. Understanding the need of development from personnel work to human resources management and implement of specific personnel actions according to the proposed recommendations and advice will improve HRM in this company.
