Abstract

This bachelor thesis investigates the application of nanoscale zero-valent iron () for the treatment of industrial wastewater originating from metal surface finishing processes. The theoretical part focuses on industrial wastewater, its classification, and treatment methods, alongside a description of , its properties, and preparation procedures. The experimental section is divided into several parts; the first part focuses on the activation method of NANOFER STAR and the verification of its functionality using model water. The second part evaluates the efficiency of in removing heavy metals from real industrial wastewater obtained from a selected electroplating plant. The efficiency was verified based on calculations for individual doses of activated under predetermined batch test conditions. The results clearly indicate a high efficiency of heavy metal removal from industrial water. Experiments demonstrated that achieves a removal efficiency of 59–70% for zinc in real wastewater
