Abstract

A pre-requisite in the slope stability analyses during the geotechnological exploration is to know the internal structure and physical-mechanical properties of the subsoil or rock mass of the slope. A proper exploration allows us to know or at least estimate these parameters with great precision. Geophysical methods can be used for determination and monitoring of physical and mechanical changes into the subsoil. In this thesis I have described the geophysical methods and their advantages in the exploration of landslides. Geoelectrical methods belong to the most used geophysical methods in the broad spectrum of geological investigations. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), a geoelectrical method, has become a very useful application in geological exploration due to its relatively simple and improved technology. Another important point of this work is to describe the ERT, which appears to be particularly suitable for identifying the depth and the internal structure of different types of landslides.
