Vývoj produkce, zásob a využití vybraných nerudných surovin v České republice

Abstract

Thesis "Development of production, reserves, and utilization of selected non-metallic raw materials in the Czech Republic" assess development, current state, and future perspectives of idustial minerals. The work is systematically structured into independent chapters allowing one to decipher and grasp the author’s course of thoughts. The non-metallic raw materials described in greater detail are clays, feldspars, glass and foundry sands, and diatomite reserves evaluation. To evaluate possible future development of selected non-metallic raw materials, the author analyzed the current state of the mineral base, sizes of their production, and potential of new deposit prospecting with a respect to their production sustainability and possible future applications. The study was based on statistical data of mining production and development of selected non-metallic raw materials in the Czech Republic, annually published by the Czech Geological Survey organization. These data showed not only historical development and the current state of the production, but also the state and amount of known still non-active deposits. Analyzed data showed a steady decline in reserves of selected non-metallic raw materials. Prospection of new reserves will become necessary in order to achieve long-term sustainability of their productions and enable future development of their applications.
