Metropolitní centrum na Akademickém náměstí v Brně

Abstract

"Původní název zadání je Akademické náměstí, jehož volba je důsledkem zřejmé koncentrace vysokoškolských zařízení. Tyto instituce jsou rozptýleny v okolí daného místa a jsou integrovány do městského organismu. Tento jev vnímám jako pozitivum oproti univerzitním areálům vyčleněným na okraj města, a proto pokládám za nezbytné tento charakter zachovat. Lokalita, ve které má akademické náměstí vzniknout, potřebuje centralizující element. V současnosti je takovým bodem Konečného náměstí, které slouží převážně jako dopravní a přestupní uzel MHD, ale charakter náměstí nemá. Dle mého názoru má vznik Akademického náměstí ve smyslu nového subcentra velký význam pro město jako takové.
