Abstract
The main purpose of this thesis is to design and test ip6tables and nftables firewalls for the IPv6 protocol. The theoretical part is focused on detailed description of firewalls, their types, properties and functions. The practical part describes the simulation of a secure network in the GNS3 program, which communicates through IPv6 addresses. Emphasis is placed on the configuration of dockers on which the ip6tables and nftables firewalls are running, the creation of policies for securing communication between computers and servers on which various services are simulated, and testing this solution using Netcat and Nmap tools. In the last part of this thesis, an analysis of the hardware requirements of GNS3 is conducted for its potential for expanding the original topology with additional devices. The ultimate goal of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive information about network security, using the IPv6 protocol, using firewalls and GNS3 as a network simulation tool.
