Správa dat pro pátrání po pohřešované osobě

Abstract

This master thesis deals with a topic of data management and their preparation for an application named Pátrač, a subsidiary tool for search and rescue operations (SAR). In today’s era of big data, humankind may utilize their immense amount in order to receive information that may help save lives. This thesis presents a way of organizing freely available geodata, comprised mainly of OpenStreetMap (OSM) vector layers and ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model, in an open-source GIS software GRASS GIS. The other aspect of this thesis is creating a prototype of an application, which is able to process GRASS-stored data and create a data project for Pátrač. Pátrač, a QGIS plugin written in Python programming language, is able to determine probability of finding a missing person in calculated search sectors, therefore facilitating work of police and rescue forces. The last part of the thesis discusses limitations and possible extensions of the proposed solution.
