Abstract
This bachelor thesis attempts to describe the situation in the Vítkovice Ironworks in the years of 1947 and 1948. During that era Czechoslovakia saw the rise of socialism. The government, which had come into power after the war, had the task of raising the country’s economy weakened by the war. It was expected that socialist competition should help restore the economy. The first part of the thesis deals with a brief history of post-war Czechoslovakia as well as the economic and political situation of the country. Furthermore, this part of the thesis explains what is meant by a centralist economy and what its features are. The end of the chapter contains a brief history of socialist competition in Czechoslovakia and a description of a two –year recovery plan and economic development, which was scheduled for the years of 1947 - 1948. The next chapter analyzes articles that appeared in the magazine Jiskra. There is a description of the situation in the Vitkovice Ironworks during the two-year economic plan based on analyzed articles, and a list of achievements. The journalistic part of the thesis includes an introductory article, editorial, survey, interview with a Master Zdenek Havlena and glosses.
