Abstract
This thesis addresses the measurement of a distance of the sphere gap. Thesis aims at the more accurate measurement of this length in the laboratory E122 VSB Technical University of Ostrava at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In this thesis, I wrote down modern methods of distance measurement using optics, acoustics, electrical variables and measurement of mechanical rotation. I also draw up the method of measurement using a camera. I have evaluated the suitability of these methods for the use in the laboratory E122 and chose the most suitable one. As the most promising method, I chose the method which uses light gate, which reached sufficient accuracy in hand with low price. On the basis of this work, it’s clear to see the issue of measuring distances with high voltage on the sphere gap and possible hints of methods to measure this distance.
