Abstract

In this thesis, there is processed and documented a sequence, causes and conse-quences of the Nelson III Colliery disaster in Osek by Duchcov in January 1934, from which it passed 80 years (2014). There is no target in this thesis to find some new findings and reality, it only wanted to make an attempt to accumulate and put into context some relevant and proven information from the greatest possible quantity of available resources from which I would like to create the fullest possible picture of the events. In the first part of the thesis there is a short description of the historical and con-temporary state of mining in the 30s of the 20th century. Then there is included the geo-logical and operating characteristic of the Nelson Colliery in the thesis, then the status and conditions at the mine before the disaster, the own sequence of events and the redevelop-ment of this mine disaster. In the next part of the thesis there are discussed the causes of the formation of the disaster. There is classified a summary of the current explosive measures used at Czech coal mines at the end of this thesis, including a summary of the valid legislation of this area.
