Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with modelling in the field of fetal electrocardiography. The main task of this thesis is design, implementation and functional verification of the fetal ECG generator using LabVIEW programming tools. Particular attention was dedicated to undesired interferences, commonly present in fetal ECG monitoring in clinical practise. These are maternal ECG, powerline interference, baseline wander or interferences caused by myopotencials and uterine contractions. The proposed generator enables different parameter settings for fetal ECG as well as for particular interferences. The output of this generator is a group of synthetic signals that correspond with real recordings from clinical practise. The proposed generator can be useful for testing fetal ECG extraction algorithms. Because of the fact that its output can be considered as reference signal, the generator can be used as objective evaluation tool for the quality of fetal ECG extraction methods.
