Abstract

This thesis is about to present theoretical description of WDM PON and EPON network. The WDM PON part focuses on used bandwidth and a different ways of signal transmission. Further focuses on the description of important parts of the optical networks, such as sources, detectors and AWG filters. The second part deals with the creation and description of scheme for a combined WDM PON and EPON ver. 2 network designed in the development environment Optiwave Optisystem 11, which are operated by one optical fiber and finding the maximum reachable distance of such a network. Last part of this thesis focuses on the evaluation of measured results of this simulated network and suggestions to improve the properties of this network.
