Abstract

Diploma thesis is focused on the formation and removing of the oxide layer from the metal material‘s surface, primarily High speed steels. Theoretical part aims at mechanism of creation of the oxide layer, at their composition and at the way they affect basic material. Furthermore, at principles how to remove them in different ways from the gentlest one (melts pickling) to more aggressive methods (acid pickling), which lead to the loss of the basic material. Another part of the theoretical work concentrates on the basic characterization of High speed steel. The evaluation of the structure and composition of the oxide layer at High speed steel, type AISI M2, AISI M42 and WKE 45, and the change of their character depending at the stage of the pickling process take a place in the experimental section. Energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis has been used for this observation.
