Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on the characterization of hydrochars produced by hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). Different types of hydrochars were prepared from selected organic wastes and subjected to various analyses in order to determine their properties and possible future use. The structure of hydrochars was further examined using a scanning electron microscope to verify presence of special structures. The submitted document contains general information about carbon, and provides an overview of it's forms and modifications. Additionally, information about the hydrothermal carbonization process is presented as well as a description of hydrochar production, it's specific forms, and possible applications. The preparation of graphene under laboratory conditions is also described.
