Abstract
The thesis deals with the problems and possibilities of measuring the mechanical stress of PCBs using a strain gauge and the subsequent design of the measurement hardware, its implementation and the creation of software that displays and stores the measured values in a PC for further processing. In the first part of the thesis, the necessary theory to design the required device is written. The development and current types of strain gauges and their possible connection to the Wheatstone bridge are described in detail. A larger part of the theory is devoted to AD converters and the operation of the sigmadelta converter which is used later, is described in detail. In the second chapter, two different systems that measure the mechanical stresses of PCBs using strain gauges are designed and described and the software design is discussed. In the following chapter, the implementation of the system is described, including the PCB fabrication and the placement of the components in the mounting box. In the last chapter, a control measurement is performed to verify the functionality of the designed system and to determine the standard deviation. Subsequently, a mechanical stress measurement of the PCB is performed on a sensor sample currently under development to verify the possible inclusion of tests in a future test plan. All measurements are finally evaluated.
