Abstract
The aim of the climate change policy is to prevent or to mitigate the process of global warning and climate changes. This policy is focused on so called anthropogenic factors causing this phenomenon and it is trying to reduce the interference between human actions and Earth climate. But these efforts are linked to certain costs resulting into a huge dispute how the climate change policy influences the competitiveness of countries. The analysis of the climate change policy impacts on competitiveness of chosen countries: the Czech Republic and Switzerland is the basic aim of this diploma thesis.
In the first chapter of the thesis I describe the genesis of the climate change policy since its beginning till today. The second chapter is focused on the Kyoto protocol and its mechanisms that are aimed to greenhouse gases reduction. The third chapter is summarizing currently the biggest operational system of the emissions trading, which is the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). In the last fourth chapter I analyze the climate change policy impacts on selected countries that means I focused on the emissions reduction potential of analyzed countries and the costs related to this action.
