Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of heat treatment on mechanical properties and microstructure of steel. The aim is to compare the mechanical properties and microstructure of steel grades C45, 42CrMoS4 and 90MnCrV8 after application of various heat treatments. The theoretical part consists of literature review focused on the general cycle of heat treatment during annealing, quenching and tempering, phase transformation of austenite (reconstructive and displacive transformation) and the impact of microstructure on mechanical properties. The experimental part deals with application of specific heat treatment for steels C45, 42CrMoS4 a 90MnCrV8. Subsequently, the influence of different heat treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties as yield strength, tensile strength and ductility according to tensile test and hardness is assessed.
