Abstract

This thesis should make the reader acquainted with the properties of precious stones, with processes of their genesis and with basic methods of their treatment. Special branch of stone´s treatment is a glyptic, which is an essential part of the stone´s treatment for jewelery. To the imitation and artificial precious stones I also pay attention in one of the chapters, which describes the best-known methods. The whole thesis is devoted to the crown jewels and the precious stones, which are embed in them. The most precious stones in the world are described in detail in here. A constituent part of thesis is devoted to the Czech crown jewels. I tried to describe in brief the history and origins of the Czech crown jewels.
