Abstract

This thesis presents one type of the soil improvement techniques of geotechnical engineering. Geocell have been used in several areas, such as retaining walls, embankment, foundation, slope stability and erosion control. We can rewiew on the different field application of geocell reinforcement and its impact on the geotechnical structures are presented. In thesis is presents a methods for predicting the bearing capacity of geocell-reinforced soils, taking into account the soil foundation bering capacity and the geocell reinforcement mechanisms - the stress dispersion effect, the confinement effect and the membrane effect. The results show that the calculated bearing capacity obtained by this methods (Koerner’s method and Presto’s method) give a better fit to the soil reinforcement.
