Abstract
Diploma thesis is focused on identification and elimination of defects caused by gravity casting of aluminum alloys into metal molds. Aluminum alloys and their properties are described herein. An important part of this thesis is the description of individual technologies of aluminum alloy casting. Most often, aluminum alloys are cast into metal molds by gravity, pressure and low pressure casting technologies. The practical part of the thesis consists of analysis and processing of data about the defects directly in the production with which the manufacturer of components for the automotive industry faces. Furthermore, the practical part of the thesis deals with the concrete two types of wheel hub castings. Based on the production data, the most common defects and examples of elimination of these defects are described.
