Úloha vysokých škol při podpoře spin-off firem v Evropské unii na příkladu vybraných českých univerzit

Abstract

This thesis deals with the role of universities in supporting spin-off companies in the European Union and explains it on the example of selected Czech universities. The objective is to evaluate whether support for establishment of university spin-offs provided by universities brings real results in the form of newly-established enterprises, and also give to the univerisities a particular recommendations to improve the creation and development of university spin-off companies. A partial objective is to offer potential founders of spin-off companies a comprehensive and transparent material, which is briefly acquainted with the possibilities of support their business plans in the form of the establishment of spin-off companies. Selected problem was solved through analysis of the support of spin-off companies, which they receive from the selected universities. In this thesis were used logical methods such as analysis, synthesis and in part also comparison and deduction. Data and information were processed on a base on a questionnaire survey across the Czech public universities and also from available additional information found on the Internet. Carried out the research, it was found that the promotion of spin-off companies can be found at almost all universities surveyed, in most cases includes the provision of material support to the hands of technology transfer centers or its equivalent. Based on the survey data can be considered the support of spin-offs from universities as well founded, since the establishment of this type of businesses actually occurring, but at a relatively low rate. The main finding is that overall predominant formation of university spin-off companies without equity participation of university. The results of this study allow, on the basis of the recommendations a comprehensive improvement in the creation and development of spin-off companies in the academic environment.
