Management domácností ve vazbě na trh práce

Abstract

This thesis addresses the topic of household management as a legitimate and still insufficiently recognized area of management. The aim of the thesis is to highlight its most significant component – domestic work – within the context of societal functioning, and to quantify, through original empirical research, the time individuals devote to these activities and subsequently assess them economically. The theoretical part defines the concept of household management, outlines the historical development and specific features of domestic work, and presents selected approaches to its economic valuation. In the practical part, a combination of a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews was conducted. The collected data were processed using the opportunity cost method and the replacement cost method. The results show that even within a small research sample, domestic work can be concretely quantified and its actual economic value demonstrated. The thesis contributes to the academic discourse on the recognition of household management and opens up space for further research, public policy development, and discussions on a fairer distribution of unpaid labor.
