Petrologicko-geochemická studie metabazitů zlatohorského rudního revíru

Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the study of green shales from the Zlaté Hory area. The main objective was to use petrographic, mineralogical, and geochemical methods to assess the nature of the collected samples and determine whether their evolution corresponds more to the lower volcanic cycle of an island arc or to the upper volcanic cycle with intraplate affinity. The samples were first described macroscopically and then analyzed in detail using thin-section microscopy, X-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis, and geochemical classification diagrams. The results show that the rocks have a basic protolith and underwent metamorphism under green schist facies conditions. Furthermore, geochemical data suggest a division of the samples into a more depleted fraction with oceanic to island-arc affinity and a more enriched fraction tending toward intraplate evolution. This work thus contributes to a better understanding of the volcanic evolution of the studied area.
