Abstract

BANKING UNION AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF SHADOW BANKING IN THE EUROPEAN UNION The aim of this thesis is based on qualitative analysis to evaluate potencial effect and impacts of formation of the banking union on the area of shadow banking in the European Union based. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, the second chapter is devoted to the status of shadow banking in the banking sector. Next, the third chapter deals with the regulation and supervision in the banking sector, where I focused on regulation of classical banking sector and then regulation of the shadow banking sector through the European Commission's plan to address the risks associated with shadow banking. The fourth chapter is devoted to the creation of the Banking Union and its impact on shadow banking, my suggestions and recommendations are also included. The result of thesis is finding, that the formation of banking union will not solve the problem of shadow banking and does not increase the level of regulation in this area.
