Abstract
The oscillation of the mould of continuous casting is made necessary by pulling the mould powder between the slab and the wall of mould to prevent sticking steel on the wall of mould. This thesis is concerned with setting the oscillation parameters with the use of non sinusoidal pattern of oscillation which can be achieved by using of the hydraulic oscillation. Due to the oscillation of the mould, the surface and subsurface defects are created. The most important surface defects connected with oscillation are called oscillation marks. Therefore, the correct setting of the oscillation parameters (stroke, frequency etc.) is necessary for good surface and subsurface quality of cast products.
