Abstract
Innovation is on minds of most CEO’s and business leaders. With growing competition, economic challenges and changing technology, the pressure on companies to become more innovative is increasing in order to achieve growth, to have profit and success. Especially in big companies, it is common to have a subject that is running innovation management including idea management and idea generation. On this thesis I worked more than half a year in a close contact with a big logistic company Deutsche Post DHL, concretely at one of its Global Business Services - IT Services in Bonn, Germany. The purpose of this study was to proposed suitable scenarios that could be implemented in the current reality. After I reviewed the selected literature I analyzed the situation of how the whole idea management had been treated and upon this I suggested four possible scenarios that were also described. Another aim was to examine topics of motivation system and reward system and I recommended possible concrete proceeding. As business units of IT Services exist in more countries I researched also coherent impact of the cultural differences. Finally I proposed key performance indicators for tracking results and effectiveness of proposed scenarios. I passed many personal meetings in the company and I interviewed responsible individuals and selected people who were submitting ideas. Some of them I finally questioned by a specific questionnaire in order to make programs’ benefits more structured for analyses. Further I analyzed Strengths – Weaknesses – Opportunities - Threats of relevant existing programs and used also descriptive evaluation of gathered information and data. Using experimental design I characterized suggested scenarios, motivation and reward system and key performance indicators as results of the thesis’ main target.
