Abstract
Thesis called Application of Project Management on Implementing eLearning and its Tools was elaborated at the Department of System Engineering at the Faculty of Economics, Technical University of Ostrava.
Goals of the thesis are to plan, to create and to implement eLearning website (weblog) for emerging Web design Company involved in creating web pages and providing internet services. Complete project was developed with support of project management tools. Executed were preliminary analysis, planning and project organization and it has been chosen appropriate Content Management System (CMS), which will be used to manage completed website. CMS has been chosen with emphasis on meeting up major requirement which is “adding comments” under individual courses, which purpose is to gain feedback from future visitors and website users. Preconditions are simplicity, transparency and Czech language support of particular CMS.
Part of the work is dedicated to clarification issues of project management and its specifics, focusing on basics terms as project, project life-cycle, project participants, etc. Certain part is dealing with eLearning and its contemporary definitions and also with its main advantages and disadvantages. Included is description of eLearning course and modern technologies, which can be used within electronic education form. Indirectly was executed comparison of eLearning in commercial and public administration sphere. Described were also some of the basic methods and tools of project management.
Plan has been devised with consideration of all clients’ requirements. After consultation was prepared schedule of activities – list was presented to the client on approval. With help of software were devised Gantt chart and critical path. In order to achieve the lowest possible costs, shortest duration and reduction of risk were executed optimization analysis such as Paret’s analysis, PERT and FMEA.
Final project has been delivered and planned based on theoretical knowledge of project management and many consultations with client himself. MS Project 2010 was used in order to transform project in electronic form. Within the planning were respected common project management rules and budget has not exceeded the expectations. Implemented website is publicly available at www.webhelpers.cz.
