Abstract

This thesis describes the dependence of physical and geometrical properties of blood vessels to the propagation of the pressure wave. Part of the work are the creation of aorta and bottles used to simulate vascular resistance. The model also consists of a spring-loaded container, a special Harvard Apparatus 55-3321 blood pressure pump and ARGON DTX Plus pressure sensors. The main objective of the model is to create a pulse wave and analyze its parameters in relation to the physical and geometric properties of the blood vessels. As parameters were chosen resizing vascular resistance, heart rate, viscosity of the medium and the lumen.
