Abstract
The purpose of this work is to present a view of a landscape as a whole, which includes culture, environment, ecology, social environment, and sources of economic activity, and to suggest possibilities of searching and applying assessments, evaluations and enforcement of protection and creation of landscape within the legal framework of the Czech Republic and adjoining territories of Poland and Slovakia. The text deals namely with the possibilities of the established use of landscape protection one hand, and with the possibilities of landscape protection, planning and management within the European Landscape Convention on the other hand. The dissertation examines the legal framework of landscape management, resort management of individual segments of landscape regardless its varied and interconnected parts and services.
The main objective of the dissertation is to find opportunities to interconnect the various fragments in order to protect the landscape as an inherited value, and also to address the needs of the current society that uses the landscape to realise its plans and intentions. The society changes the landscape significantly, although generally, it does not discuss the issues connected with the process of change very much. Due to the detailed character of the monitored problems, the Moravian-Silesian Region has been chosen for the research as a representative example of a heterogenous area where the impact of human activity in a degraded landscape is well preserved.
The dissertation studies possible interconnections between the landscape management, assessment of landscape characteristics, definitions of specific landscapes and target characteristics of landscape, definition of conservation areas, possibilities of land readjustment, territorial planning, non-productive function of landscape and its evaluation and a possibility or ability of its users to participate in implementing certain measures in the landscape.
The dissertation also presents results of the analysis of the present state of landscape management (research and photographic documentation).
