Abstract

This thesis deals with the proportion of activated sludge in the sedimentation tank to the total amount of sludge in the whole activation system. In this work is considered the measuring of the amount of activated sludge in different parts of the cascade activation tank with particular emphasis on the settlement tank. Distribution of the slurry varies according to the size of the inflow, where in case of higher inflows sludge is washed out to the settling tanks and by lower inflows it’s returned back to activation process. The main benefit should be determining what portion of the sludge is average in the settling tanks, because that would be appropriate to include in the total reserve of sludge in the process of biological purifying. From these results, I expect it should be possible to determine which of the standards that are mentioned in this work, concerning the settling tanks, is the most accurate, in addition the results should make the estimation of sludge age much more precise, which is decisive for the process of nitrogen removal.
