Abstract

This bachelos thesis deals with the use of retro display devices in the construction of modern IoT connected clocks. The goal of this thesis is to compile a list of display devices fit for construction of a retro clock, to design a clock utilizing one of the listed display devices and build a program solution for it‘s use. The list also delves into the principles of operation and driving methods for each device. The designed clock consists of several PCB boards, all of which had to be designed, soldered and awakened. A box for the clock was also designed and 3D printed. The program solution ensures clock synchronization utilizing a NTP server. Sensordata available over IoT network is also displayed. Function of the converter was verified by measurement. Power consumption of the complete clock in several different modes of operation was also measured.
