Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to verify how the change of temperature and the rate of heating
of slabs affect the forming process of S355J2 structural steel in terms of the change of rolling forces, the change of the number of rolling passes and the Ld/Hs ratio. Other factors that will be investigated are:
- Change in the structure of the roll in its section,
- Mechanical properties.
Three heating modes will be selected in this work, namely two accelerated heating modes (larger temperature difference between core and slab surface) to an average slab temperature of 1220°C and 1180°C, and one slower heating mode (minimum temperature difference between core and slab surface) to an average slab temperature of 1180°C. For all of these modes, rolls with a thickness of 60mm, 40mm and the above mentioned parameters will be monitored. Subsequently, an evaluation will be made of the economic impact associated with the consumption of natural gas in the bumping furnace (possible increase in production) will also be evaluated.
