Abstract
The production of crude iron and steel is connected with quite a few of the secondary products. The effort of steel companies is to maximize utilization of the secondary products and to minimize waste production. The blast-furnace sludge is the product of blast-furnace gas cleaning, the steelmaking sludge is the product of steel gas cleaning. These kinds of sludges have been stockpiled in sludge bed in Ostrava-Bartovice by ArcelorMittal Ostrava a.s. since 1970's. Nowadays, the sludge bed in Ostrava-Bartovice is being recultivated. The sludge production and sludge treatment is described in this thesis. The sludge bed in Ostrava-Bartovice, recultivation and the analysis of the environmental impact based on monitoring of ground water is discussed in the thesis.
