Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the problem of heat resisting materials applied in the oxygen converter. The theoretical part describes the history of the development of the oxygen converters, a brief general description of the types of converters used today, materials used in the heat resisting lining of converters and methods of repair and maintenance. The experimental part of the work focuses on the liner bottom of the converter which is the part of the exposed brickwork. The results of the research of shaped heat resisting materials used for brick liners bottom of the converter and unshaped refractory materials, namely ramming mass, are presented there. The aim of this research is to propose the action to ensure the safe heating pad bottom oxygen converter in two directions - the selection of suitable materials and design of optimum heat curve of new oxygen converter lining.
