Abstract

In the presented thesis, the possibilities of comparing of the enrichment factor (EF) in aerosols (PM10) and in street dust, which is influenced by air pollution, were elaborated. Street dust can be resuspended into the atmosphere by wind and vehicles in urban areas. This dust affects air quality and human health. In the autumn of the year 2019, a detailed study was carried out to determine changes in heavy metal concentrations and magnetic susceptibility by comparing samples of the street dust obtained in selected localities of the city of Olomouc. Chemical analysis by X-ray fluorescence, grain size distribution, optical analysis methods, phase compositions and area distribution maps were developed. Zirconium (Zr), which is related to geogenic factors, was used for the enrichment index metric. Zr is present predominantly in particles released from the soil environment rather than from human activity (De Vos et al., 2006).
