Abstract
The health sector is one of the most monitored areas of the national economy, both by policymakers and the public (the citizens, or the insured) therefore topics such as the healthcare financing and the economy of health facilities, health insurance operations or the management of medicines have attracted much attention.
The aim of my thesis is to find more resources of the income of health insurance companies that are part of the Czech health care system and my conclusion is based on the analysis of a current state of the situation.
The thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter is a list of the basic and commonly used terms, rights and obligations of the insured, the health care terminology and the division of the Czech health care. These terms are explained and characterized thoroughly with regard to the overall health insurance system in the Czech Republic.
The second chapter is focused on the health insurance companies, their position in the Czech health system and their economy. For an integrated look at issue I concentrate on a comprehensive current state health care network.
In the third chapter the issue of revenue sources of health insurance companies is discussed and the current state of health financing in the Czech Republic is subject to detailed analysis. The established facts come out in search of alternative sources of funding.
