Abstract
Education is considered as an important element in the development of society since the existence of economics as a discipline. The aim of bachelor thesis is to investigate whether higher government spending on education is associated with higher human capital. For this purpose, descriptive and correlation analysis methods are used. The level of human capital is compared between the Czech Republic and other selected countries of the European Union such as Germany, Poland and Slovakia. The first chapter focuses on theories of human capital and on studies that have examined the impact of government education spending on human capital. This chapter also discusses microeconomic and macroeconomic perspectives on human capital. The second chapter is devoted to methods of measuring human capital. In the first part of the last chapter, a descriptive analysis of selected human capital indicators is conducted. The second part focuses on the calculation of correlation coefficients between government expenditure on education and selected human capital indicators.
