Abstract
This thesis deals with the corrosion degradation of steels exposed to water environments at coking plant. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the cause and degree of corrosion degradation of steels in aggressive environments and selection of suitable steels for increased durability of pipeline at coking plant.
The theoretical part is devoted to industrial waters at coking plant, especially organic and inorganic compounds of these waters. The properties, use, production, distribution, and human health effects of these substances are discussed. Another part includes the chemical composition, physical and mechanical characteristics and a brief description of steels at coking plant piping.
The experimental part describes how to perform exposure corrosion tests by immersion in a water environments of coking plant, determines the factor of pitting corrosion in certain types of steel. Further evaluation of the results of corrosion tests, mass losses of exposed steels and comparison of general corrosion.
