Abstract
This thesis deals with the evaluation of the competitive status of Australia and the New Zealand. The goal of the thesis is to characterize economic development in the Australia and the New Zealand in the period before and during the economic crisis based on statistical economic data and to evaluate their international competitiveness measured by World Economic Forum and International Institute for Management Development.
It defines the basic definitions of competitiveness and its approaches to measurement. It also pursues the basic economic characteristics of these states and compares their macroeconomic development with the world economies. The focus of the work is evaluation of competitiveness of Australia and the New Zealand in terms of WEF, IMD, World Bank, Transparency International and Heritage Foundation.
