Abstract
The aim of this work is to discuss possibility of alternative usage of main mines at the end of their life cycle. Obtaining thermal energy from mine water is proposed. Analysis of mines in terms of their usability for this purpose is provided. Suitable locality for evaluation is chosen in the analysis. Locality state, as well as found parameter values required for solution proposal are mentioned. MR 1 pit of former underground mine Kohinoor II is suitable for proposed solution at least because of it is already adapted for mine water pumping and water pumping is already being performed there independently on purpose based on this thesis. Basic project proposal of MR 1 pit usage in terms of reclaimation proposed and basic techno-economic evaluation of this project proposal are also performed in this work.
This thesis also points to the fact that process of human activity as a part of mining engineering does not have to end with the end of mineral extraction and following mine reclaimation and that mines at the end of their life cycle can yield subsequent benefit.
